Penetration Tester III

Athena Technology Group (ATG) is seeking a Penetration Tester III to join our SCITES 2 team at Miami, FL.  The Penetration Tester III primary function is to support the SCITES 2 Cybersecurity program.

Essential functions
  • Penetration Tester III proactively identifies and mitigates security vulnerabilities within the organization's systems and applications.
  • This role requires a highly skilled and ethical security professional with a deep understanding of penetration testing methodologies, attack techniques, and security vulnerabilities.
  • The Senior Penetration Tester will conduct penetration tests, analyze results, and provide remediation recommendations to improve the organization's security posture.
  • Plan and execute penetration tests on various systems, applications, and networks, including web applications, mobile applications, APIs, and infrastructure. Utilize a variety of penetration testing tools and techniques to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Simulate real-world attack scenarios to assess the effectiveness of security controls. Document findings and provide detailed reports with remediation recommendations.
  • Analyze identified vulnerabilities to determine their potential impact and exploitability. Research and stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain exploit code and proof-of-concept demonstrations. Conduct security assessments to evaluate the overall security posture of systems and applications. Identify security weaknesses and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other security teams to integrate penetration testing findings into vulnerability management and risk assessment processes.
  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to remediate identified vulnerabilities. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Provide security awareness training and guidance.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field. 9+ years of experience in penetration testing or a related cybersecurity role.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level II-compliant certification.
Experience:
  • Five years of position-specific relevant experience. Strong understanding of penetration testing methodologies and frameworks (e.g., OWASP, PTES, NIST). Experience with various penetration testing tools and techniques (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap). Knowledge of common security vulnerabilities and attack vectors. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with the technical implementation of policies regarding system controls in IT systems.
