Job Summary
We are seeking a IT Support Specialist to join our team supporting the Army G-6 SAP CIO efforts to operate and maintain a classified network infrastructure and application suite. You will play a key part in ATG’s support for the Army SAP CIO managing security operations and providing technical support within a classified government environment. This hybrid role ensures personnel and facility security compliance while also supporting secure IT systems and end-user operations for the division.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a classified network infrastructure and application suite that enables secure compartmented communications mechanisms, including a web- centric collaboration environment, enterprise services (e.g., eMail, VOIP Phones, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC)) over a robust transport environment between disparate compartmented networks.
- Provide technical (Tier 1 and 2) services for a DoD Directorate subsection.
- Perform day-to-day operations of standalone network providing Cybersecurity and IT support for section personnel.
- Set up workstations with computers, VoIP phones, and necessary peripheral devices
- Check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
- Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications for all section personnel
- Maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
- Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.) within NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and other government networks.
- Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
- Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders.
- Handle customer technical support cases through phone and email submission.
- Manage IT service requests (Create, Assign, Resolve, and Report) through ticket management system.
- Inventory IT equipment and maintain inventory records.
- Prepare reference material for users by drafting operation instructions.
- Repair or replace damaged hardware.
- Perform tests and evaluations on new software and hardware.
- Configure and manage networked printers.
Qualifications
Required:
- Security Clearance Level: Must hold an active TS with SCI.
- BA/BS or equivalent
- 5 years of applicable experience
- Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
- In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems.
- Ability to research and learn from vendor and developer documentation and apply concepts to other efforts
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with senior customers to field and troubleshooting questions and issues
- Cyber certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP) per DoD 8140 (corresponds to IAT Level II)
Desired:
- Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
- Great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail
- Knowledge of DA policy and planning efforts, IT enterprise goals and objectives, and other required functions
- Knowledge of SAP Operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience working on physical and logical network design for network infrastructure installation or deployment projects
- Experience with network monitoring tools
- Experience gathering technical and business customer requirements
- Ability to work independently
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with employees to field and troubleshooting questions and issues
- Outstanding knowledge of software maintenance
- Familiarity with VTC equipment
Physical and Environmental Conditions
- Work to be performed out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time in office-setting
