Cybersecurity Engineer Team Lead

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated Cybersecurity Engineer to support the mission objectives and needs of our customer, with work locations at several sites  in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.  The position is contingent upon award of the Office of the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO) DCIO for Information Enterprise (IE) and Special Access Program Information Technology (SAP IT) Support Services Task Order.

The Cybersecurity Engineer will provide subject matter expert (SME) level support for cybersecurity and related technical support to provide review of broad scope technical implementations within SAP IT and the wider SAP enterprise. This includes a wide range of systems processing SAP which may include IT capabilities such as cross domain solutions, layered defensive techniques, on premises, cloud or hybrid solutions, virtualization, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML), and robotic processing.   The contractor shall provide all support required to the Authorizing Official (AO) to enable government decisions relating to system and enterprise-wide cyber compliance and risk. Additionally, they will serve as the lead for cybersecurity tasks on the contract.

Responsibilities:
The Cyber Engineer responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead and mentor a team of cyber security personnel, providing guidance on best practices, cyber initiatives, and policies.
  • Assign tasks, oversee project execution, and ensure alignment with program goals and timelines.
  • Provide Security Control Assessors (SCA) with knowledge of best practice industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating information technology security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and procedures utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities
  • Provide formal RMF validation services of all submitted customer provided RMF packages, both within eMASS or equivalent application, and outside of eMASS, by evaluating the BOE for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review security design documentation to ensure it meets comprehensive security requirements and compliance with DoD and federal regulations and guidelines. 
  • Oversee and maintain awareness of system owner’s key A&A activities from system initiation to retirement associated with system development and program implementation as part of the seven-step RMF process.
  • Evaluate the implementation of system boundary controls to ensure applicable security controls have been applied and executed ensuring interconnection between systems is in accordance with the applicable federal and DoD policies.

Qualifications:
Required:
  •  Must hold a current Top Secret clearance and be SCI eligible.
  • BA/BS + 10 years relevant experience. Experience in lieu of education may be acceptable.
  • Current DoD 8140 Advanced certification (e.g. CISSP)
  • Expertise in monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM systems) and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to identify, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats in real time.
  • Strong understanding of DoD-specific cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53, and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
  • Experience with Zero Trust (ZT) architectures, automated unit, functional, integration, and security testing.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining software factories, that support the rapid development, testing, and deployment of software.
